ABOUT

Lead Therapist:
Sheena Ruparelia

Experience

Clinical: I currently work in a Primary Care Service within an NHS Trust where I deliver CBT to people experiencing depression and anxiety disorders.  I have also worked in a residential setting within the NHS delivering CBT to people with Learning Disabilities and Enduring Mental Health Problems. Prior to my role within the NHS, I have worked in private hospitals delivering psychological assessment and intervention work for Adults and Children, both groups and individuals to clients diagnosed with Learning Disabilities, Personality Disorders and Autism Spectrum Disorders. I have delivered behavioural therapies for adults diagnosed with co-morbid mental health difficulties such as Autism, Disorders of Old Age, OCD and Psychosis.  I have also been part of a team that set up a psychology service in a low secure private hospital for Children and Adolescents.

Academic: My Psychology degree has given me good grounding in studying different types of mental health problems and valuing the various types of therapeutic methods used in clinical settings. My postgraduate degree extended my learning in the field of health psychology, where I understood the psychological, cultural and behavioural processes involved in physical health and illness, and understanding mental illness from a biopsychosocial approach.
